As Vancouver heads into the final weekend of hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics, we wanted to thank you for following our Newsletter, and invite you to visit our website to see a few samples of our view of what has been going on during the recent festivities. We have added numerous photos to our Flickr site, a few video clips of events we attended, and a few comments in our blog: www.gayvan.com.
It’s a fantastic time to be in the Vancouver region, and the party just doesn’t stop, with WinterPride in Whistler happening the first week of March, followed by the Paralympic Winter Games kicking off on March 12.· You can pick up official information on the Winter Games via our designated Olympics page at: http://www.gayvan.com/olympics.html, and information on WinterPride and other LGBT events and events of interest via our What’s On pages: http://www.gayvan.com/whats-on2.html .

The past couple of weeks have been unprecedented for the crowds out and about in the bars, pubs, patios, and nightclubs. There has been non-stop sports-related action, multi-national flags and patriotic outerwear good-naturedly competing on the streets all over town, and even a few specialty-themed drag shows in the spirit of the festivities.

Gorgeous above seasonal weather helped to keep things warm in the city, and spring has exploded with a vengeance, jokingly causing some to dub these the Vancouver Spring Games! This head start on spring makes it a great time to visit the city, to check out the cherry blossoms, daffodils, camellias, rhododendrons, and even the occasional pair of shorts and t-shirts around town.

We are also pleased to let you know that our 2010 Gay Friendly Vancouver – In Town Guide was published in early February, just in time to welcome international guests to the region. Print copies are available at the Tourism Visitor Centre, at hotel concierge desks, Little Sister’s bookstore, and at various LGBT venues around town. Our digital edition is also now available on our homepage, or via this link: http://www.gayvan.com/InTown72/Basic/Default.html .

Last, but not least, we have a great selection of LGBT friendly hotels available for secure, online booking, and folks are already booking their accommodation for upcoming events and Vancouver Pride in July. We are very hands on in working with our hotel partners year-round, for both individual and group bookings, and look forward to having you join us for your next visit:
